John Telfer Jackson married Canadian Ruth Penlington in 1951. The couple had five children. The family lived at first in Scrooby and later in Retford. John Telfer managed a concrete block and beam making company, Kingbury Concrete, in Ranskill.
He later moved to Lincoln with his family.
