By direction of the President, under the provisions of Army Regulations 600-45, 22 September 1943, as amended, the Distinguished Service Cross is Awarded by the Army Commander to Frank J. Sabonis (31103480), Technician Fifth Grade, Armored, Company A, 24th Tank Battalion, for extraordinary heroism in action on 13 April 1945, near Seelshiede, Germany.

Technician Fifth Grade Sabonis, displaying exceptional courage, eliminated three panzerfaust teams that were halting the advance of his unit. He then boldly advanced on a hostile machine gun position and killed its crew with his sub-machine gun. While returning to his position, he encountered two other sniper riflemen and eliminated both. Technician Fifth Grade Sabonis cool and deliberate actions where in accord with the finest traditions of the Army of the United States.
Entered military service from Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
