"Lieut BANNERJI was in action on the 6th Feb with his Platoon in the area of 7 Div Car Park.

7 Ind Div H.Q. area had been over run and he noticed that a number of casualties were lying unattended after our own troops had withdrawn. He called for one volunteer from his Platoon and, under continuous fire evacuated 12 casualties.

On another occasion his Platoon was ordered two escort 22 soft convoy over the NGAKEYDAUK Pass. They were fired on by several enemy *** but Lt. BANNERIJ in a Jeep and the leading carrier pressed on. It was only when he discovered that the convoy had stopped and that the drivers had left their vehicles that the returned to the ***.

On the first occasion personal courage and the second great devotion to duty was displayed by this officer."
