Throughout the Imphal Operations and in particular during the period under review, Jem Tekbir Limbu has shown an extremely high standard of courage and leadership, inspiring all ranks by his unfailing cheerfulness under the most arduous conditions. He has contributed in no small measure to the consistent high morale of his Company and has taken part in many minor actions with his Platoon - actions, calling for high courage, tenacity and determination.

In the Bishenpur Area Jem Tekbir Limbu particularly showed his fine qualities as a Leader. While taking part in an attack on a strong enemy positions his Platoon under his skilful and bold leadership destroyed five enemy bunkers in quick succession for the loss of 9 men wounded. Jem Tekbir Limbu himself on one occasion charging one of the bunkers in front of his men and personally destroying the occupants with grenades. Over 20 Japanese dead were counted in this action, but these figures bear little relation to the importance and strength of the Enemy position destroyed by Jem Tekbir's Platoon. Throughout, his Platoon was subjected to heavy small arms fire.

Later during this period when his Company Commander was wounded Jem Tekbir took over the duties of 2nd-in-Command of his Company. He proved of invaluable assistance to his new Company Command and on all occasions showed the same high standard of courage when his Company was in action.

During periods of intensive and accurate shelling, Jem Tekbir Limbu did much to maintain the morale of his men to a very high standard by his personal example of fearlessness, and by continual encouragement.

Jem Tekbir Limbu is undoubtedly a leader of great courage and ability, having shown these qualities continuously throughout an arduous campaign."
