"For heroism at Fonton Field, in northern Australia, on 25 August 1943. When a B-24 aircraft crashed and burst into flames near the airstrip, Major Garron rushed to the scene in an ambulance. He assisted the co-pilot to a stretcher and ran to the burning Liberator to search for other injured personnel. Hearing screams from inside the fuselage, Major Garron, assisted by 2 other officers, cut a hole in the plane, removed one of the men and carried him to the ambulance. Alhtough the fire was spreading rapidly and 50-caliber shells were exploding continually, he returned to the bomber and assisted in removing 2 other men. The bravery displayed by Major Garron in risking his own life to save the lives of others reflects great vredit uponhimself and the military service."
