Biography

Hendrik Boxma liver in Groningen ad the Bedumerweg 91a. He was the son of railwayworker/shunter Jacob Boxma (December 23rd, 1881 Hooghalen - March 6th, 1931 Haren, Groningen. Boxma Sr was killed during his work when he was hit by a passing train) and level crossing guard Hendrikje Jantje Koenderik (May 3rd, 1884 Nijehaske, Haskerland - March 8th, 1974 Delfzijl). He married maid Ida Blok (April 20th, 1899 Loppersum - May 6th, 1987 Groningen) on May 23rd, 1931. The couple had two children Jacob and Frederik.
Hendrik Boxma was shunter with the DUtch Railway (Nederlandse Spoorwegen - NS). In September 1944 the Dutch Government in exile ordered the Dutch Railway Strike and Boxma reacted by going in hiding. On September 23rd, 1944 he was at his hiding place arrested by SD-accomplish Harry Bouman (Polizeiangestellter Harm – Harry – Bouman - November 1st, 1917 Heusden – December 24th, 2001 Breda) and shot dead at the railwayplatform in Groningen.
