Biography

Peter Frederick Jackson entered the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves in October 1937. He served during World War Two with No. 604 Squadorn until he ws killed in action on may 29th, 1941 with Beaufighter IF R2073. He was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium in Hendon.

"One night in December, 1940, this airman was the pilot of a fighter aircraft on patrol. While closing in to attack a night raider he was fired on by its. rear gunner and was badly cut about the head and face. In spite of his face being covered with blood and only being able to see with one eye, he returned and landed his aircraft safely at his base in poor visibility and without wireless aid.
Sergeant Jackson has displayed determination and outstanding eagerness to search and destroy enemy night bombers at the closest range.
