    Biography

    John Eric Loverseed was born on December 4th, 1910 as the son of politician John Frederick Loverseed and Catherine Annie Loverseed-Thurman. He was educated at the Sudbury Grammar School and entered the Royal Air Force in 1929. Her served in the Middle East. He left operational service in 1934 and was placed on the list of Reserve Officers.
    During the Psanish Civil War he served as a pilot with the Republican Air Force in which he was wounded in January 1937.
    As a result of his involvement in the Spanish Civil War he was expelled from the Reserve Officers list.

    In 1939 he rejoined the Royal Air Force, this time as NCO. He served with Anti-Aircraft unit and as pilot with No. 501 Squadron.
    He left the service in 1943 when he was elected as a member of parliament.. He was expelled form the Labour Party in July 1945 and became a pacifist after World War Two.

    October 13th, 1930: Flying Officer;
    October 1941: Warrant Officer.

    May 21st, 1940: No. 501 Squadron;
    August 29th, 1940: No. 1 Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Unit (AACU);
    April 1943: Discharge RAF, Member of Parliament.
