    Biography

    Johannes Kamphuis lived in Vriezeveen at the Aadijk 21 near Almelo. He was born on January 7th, 1912 as son to Albartus Johannes Kamphuis and Gezina Johanna ter Halle. He was not married and worked as farmer and gamekeeper. As member of the resistance he was port of the LO-Vriezeveen. On March 30th, 1945 three Sicherheitsdienst members searched the farm where he and his brother Albartus Johannes Kamphuis lived. The las mentioned was found with a handgranade in his pocket when he was searched. Later some magazines for Sten guns were discoverd. The brothers were arrested ans taken to the SD-Dienststelle in Almelo. When questioned, Bertus declared he had thrown a bag with handgranades in the water. Borth brothers were shot next to the destroyed V-1 sight at the Bolshoek by the SD military Ludwig Schweinberger (1901). One of the brothers died on the spot the other was killed with a headshot. Obergefreiter Schweinberger was sentenced to death after the war and hanged on December 13th, 1945 in Hameln, Germany.
