update july 2025:
About 50 prisoners remained in the camp because they were too ill for the long march, but they were shot dead on April 6, 1945, by returning SS guards. The camp's author, Gerhard Grande, witnessed this and also appeared as such in the post-war trials. He wrote: "On April 6, 1945, this camp was evacuated and the prisoners transported to Bergen-Belsen. The sick comrades were killed by a shot in the neck."
Among the 50 prisoners murdered on April 6 were several Dutchmen.
Adriaan Diederik van Bergeijk (born February 18, 1890, in Rotterdam)
Notary in Zuidland, leader of the local resistance
Prisoner number 15203 in Camp Amersfoort
Was on the last transport, March 15, 1945, from Amersfoort to Neuengamme (via Assen and Groningen)
