Lived in Putten, Voorthuizerstraat. Married Sara Clara Klaverstein (children: Hendrik and Albert), who died on 4 July 1946. Machine fitter. Reformed Protestant. Member of the resistance. Together with Rijk Hooijer (24 November 1914 Barneveld - 24 September 1942 Utrecht) and Frans Tromp (8 March 1901 Zutphen - 24 September 1942 Utrecht), he was one of the pioneers of the LO-Veluwe. Together with Hooijer, Vijge published a resistance newspaper that was distributed thirteen times in the villages of Barneveld and Voorthuizen. As a result of betrayal by SD henchman and provocateur Johannes Mattheus (Johny) de Droog (15 August 1893 Haarlem - 5 November 1944 Gorssel), he was arrested on 7 March 1942. His actions in the resistance were motivated by his deep religious convictions. He was sentenced to death for gang formation, destruction of a threshing machine, resistance to compulsory labour service and the distribution of illegal literature.
