Daniël Joseph lived in the Dutch East Indies. He served as sailor 1st class with the Dutch Koninklijke Marine as a professional military. He was enrolled as heiho in the Japanes Army but went into hiding with H. F. Berhitoe, Johannes Latuheru and Theodorus Tuhumury. They were betrayed and executed by the Japanese.
