Lived in Dordrecht. Office clerk, married to Antonia Schot. Leader of the Dordrecht communist resistance group De Waarheid (The Truth) and member of the Communist Party. During a raid on 10 November 1944 in Rotterdam, he was arrested after being betrayed by former resistance fighter and traitor Cornelis “Kees” Bitter, alias Keesje Zuid (15 September 1919 's-Hertogenbosch - 5 January 1945 Rotterdam). Bitter saw Koopman walking in Rotterdam on 10 November 1944 and reported him.
After his arrest, Anne Koopman was taken to the police station on Heemraadsingel. Three days later, he was shot dead. It was not until the end of 1946 that his remains were exhumed at the Waalsdorpervlakte. In early 1947, Anne Koopman was given a grave of honour at De Essenhof cemetery, and he also received a medal. The death certificate issued by the municipality of The Hague does not include a date of death. It only states that Koopman was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m. on 30 November 1946.
In 2024, the Anne Koopmanpad at De Essenhof Cemetery was named after him.
