    Biography

    Dirk van der Jagt lived in Grootebroek, the Netherlands. He was the son of Jan van der Jagt (farmer, June 7th, 1895, Grootebroek - January 1st, 1962) and Aaltje Rinkel (May 13th, 1896, Spanbroek - December 20th, 1972) (*1). He was not married ans worked as a farmer. When men were ordered to go to work in Germany he at first complied to this. After a leave he did not return but joined a resistance group. In the spring of 1944 he was in hiding in Westwoud. Possibly by treason his hideout was discovered. when he tried to run away, a policeman shot him to death.

    (*1) On the list of persons buried at the Roman-Catholic cemetery in Grootebroek his parents are stated as Johannes van der JAgt and Alida Rinkel.
