Sjoerd Stoker was the son to Railway worker Jan Stoker (born on March 18th, 1888 at Katlijk, the Netherlands) and Everdina van der Wal (born on May 28th, 1894 at Olst). Sjoerd Stoker lived at the Graaf Florisstraat 64b in Rotterdam. He was not married and worked as Clerck with the Ns (Dutch Railway Company). His faith was Dutch Reformed.
As from the start of the Dutch Railway Strike on September 17th, 1944, he and his collegue René Jacob Adriaan Bol (born on September 12th, 1921 in Rotterdam) hid themselves at the Reitze Hoekstra family, Katlijk No. 131. Madame Hoekstra was a niece of Sotker. Due to treason both were arrested. They were to be transferred to Vries to work at a digging site. When sabotage was done to the railway at Stobbegat between Heerenveen and Akkrum, the Netherlands, they were transferred to that location and shot as a repraisal by the SD Heerenveen.
On May 4th, 2003 at the bell chair of the Reformed Church in Katlijk a monument was reveiled with both of their names on it.
