    Biography

    Johan Christiaan Draaisma lived in Amsterdam on the Toldwarsstraat II-III. He was the son of Willem Draaisma, (November 6, Grou - † at Temanggung, Dutch East Indies) and Adeline Mathilde Tietz (1884 Ambawara, Dutch East Indies - † May 28, 1934 Amsterdam). On October 4, 1933 he was married to Christina Adriana Elisabeth van Swieten (shop attendant – February 24, 1915 Amsterdam) and divorced her on September 11, 1936. He was married again on February 21 1940, to Gesina van Vuuren (May 18, 1904 Amsterdam - † April 11, 1986, Amsterdam). Johan Christiaan Draaisma was a clerc at the GEB (Gemeentelijk Energiebedrijf, (municipal power plant) in Amsterdam.
    On March 11, 1943, Draaisma was executed on the Leusderheide, along with Cornelis Holleman (January 27, 1915 Rotterdam). His name is on display on the Monument for Resistance fighters on the Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats (cemetery) in Amsterdam. This war memorial shows the names of 18 resistance fighters, including 13 members of the illegal Dutch Communist Party who were shot near Soesterberg on November 19, 1942.
