    Biography

    Liberté Künzle lived in the Dutch East Indies. He was born on April 27th, 1917 as the son to Johann Jakob Künzle (March 26th, 1878, Linggenwil - November 1945, Indaroeng) and Cécile Johanna Eleonora Geenen (April 29th, 1885, Padang - November 1945, Indaroeng).
    He served as brigadier KNIL Engineers and serving with searchlights.
    On January 19th, 1942 he was executed together with 214 others as revenge for the sinking of two Japanese minesweepers near Tarakan. After the execution his body was thrown into the sea.
