    Biography

    Reserve 1e Luitenant Jacob Verdam lived at Tarakan and was anit-air artillery commander with the Garnizoen Tarakan at the time the Japanese invaded the island. He was at first imprisoned in a POW camp at Tarakan. Members of the Tokeitai (Naval police) took him from there to Bandjermasin, where he was excecuted.
