    Biography

    Florence Rebecca Casson was the daughter of Henry Casson (May 3rd, 1869 Virginia, South Australia - June 18th, 1941 Paynrham, South Australia) and Mary Casson.
    She was a Senior Sister with the 13th Australia General Hospital, Australian Army Nursing Corps.
    She was part of the last group of nurses which were evacuated from SIngapore with the ship s.s. Vyner Brooke. The ship was sunk by Japanese bombers on February 14th, 1942. The survivors, wamong whom Rebecca Florence Casson was one of, wee imprisoned by Japanese forces. Together with twenty other nurses and a British women they were murdered on the beach at Radji (Bangka Island massacre).
