“In the course of the offensive against Stalingrad, during the middle of August, Generalmajor Ferdinand Heim fought through a 40 km deep and heavily defended Soviet defensive position in a storm of uninterrupted heavy combat at the head of his Panzer-Division. Inspired by the brave example of its commander, the Panzer-Division achieved successes that were of great importance for the continued fighting in this sector.”
