"During the operations of this Company from December 1940 to July 1941 in Egypt, Cyrenaica, Iraq and Syria, Flight Lieutenant Stevenson showed outstanding leadership and a personal disregard of danger. He was an inspiration to those serving under him. From December 1940 to March 1941 he commanded the Royal Air Force squadron attached to the 11th Hussars in Cyrenaica and it was due to his efficiency and zeal that the squadron was able to carry out successfully the many difficult tasks required of it."
