Biography

He was married to Aunt Cathy / Kitty.

Abraham Belinfante jumped from a train near Arnhem that was supposed to take him to Westerbork. He was temporarily broken and eventually ended up in the Elisabeth Gasthuis Hospital in Arnhem. The Germans soon realized that he had been admitted there. He was rushed to a hotel in Arnhem. Janna Pol-van Binsbergen worked there as a chambermaid. They were asked to take care of Uncle Bram and to hide him from raids by the Germans. When the Germans rang the doorbell, she put Uncle Bram in a blanket box and put a pile of blankets on top. She then pulled open the bathroom door and knocked the door's heart for the soldiers. The Germans soon realized that there was a person in hiding in the hotel. They must have urgently moved him to another location.

After the war, contact between Abraham and Janna remained. At the end of his life he went back to Israel and planted a few trees there in honor of Janna.
