"This officer of the Royal Netherlands Indies Army Air Force, was in charge of all airfield construction and equipment in Sumatra. During the campaign in the Far East he made energetic efforts to cope with the transfer of R.A.F. Units to Sumatra which were accelerated and expanded beyond all anticipation. It was mainly due to his untiring energy and whole-hearted co-operation that so much was done in such a short time."
