He has distinguished himself in connection with enemy action by courageous and tactful conduct and in so doing has served the interests of the Kingdom during the years of occupation between 1940 and 1945 as a member of an underground organization on the Veluwe, involving acts of sabotage against the railway infrastructure and road transport. He also served at the so-called drop zones where weapons destined for the resistance movement were dropped and subsequently distributed.
