He has distinguished himself in connection with hostile action by courageous and tactful conduct, thereby serving the interests of the Kingdom, acting as operator of a secret transmittor in the southern part of the country who, in September and October 1944 succesfully maintained radio communication with liberated Eindhoven and served for a few weeks as the main connection with the northern part of the country where an important intelligence group endeavoured to pass information of military importance to the Allies. As he operated his transmittor from his own home, he and his family were continuosly subjected to physical danger, more so as German radio and tracking vehicles were active in close vicinity of his home. In the final days prior to the liberation, he forwarded important military messages to the regional command center that was in direct contact with the Allies.
