Biography

After completing his studies, Wolter Johan Bijleveld became an engineer for the Amsterdam Telephone Company. He was assistant district commissioner (adc) for the Scouting Association. During the war, he was a member of the resistance (PTT) and head of communications and security from 1940 to 1942. Wolter Johan was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp from 6 September 1944 to 19 September 1944. He was then transferred to the Natzweiler concentration camp. He died in Camp Vaihingen (a satellite camp of Natzweiler) on 27 February 1945. Bijleveld is buried in the Dutch War Cemetery in Düsseldorf-Oberbilk and was 42 years old.
