“The Flak-Regiment 30 (mixed), deployed in Fortress Cherbourg under the outstanding leadership of its commander, Oberst Herrmann, has destroyed the following since the 06.06.1944:

- 96 aircraft
- 5 gliders
- 12 tanks
- 3 armoured cars
- 1 anti-tank gun
- 4 vehicles

On the grounds of this announcement the Division asks that Oberst Herrmann be awarded the Knight’s Cross on account of his personal bravery, exemplary military leadership during heavy combat and of course his outstanding successes.”
