During a three day battle he served as the acting commander of the 14./Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 7, and in this time the Kompanie (under Reininghaus’s leadership) was able to destroy 32 American tanks and simultaneously prevent Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 2 from being annihilated.
