Biography

Before the war, Prinsen was a car dealer in the Dutch East Indies. In 1941, he began training for radio operator in Surabaya. Once in England he was trained as air gunner and flew in Hudsons and Mitchells.
During the attack on Vlissingen on August 20, 1943, Prinsen was aboard Mitchell FR 147, one of 12 Mitchells that took part in the attack. The aircraft was shot down, the only one of the squadron, and ditched in the sea; the crew was rescued by a British Walrus seaplane.
