    Biography

    Major Mieczyslaw Slaby was one of the leading officers in the defence of Westerplatte in 1939. He was captured in the battle and placed in a POW camp. He survived the war, but ended up locked up in the Montelupich prison in Krakow, where he died at the hands of the communist secret service.
