SON OF JOSEPH AND MILLICENT HYDE, OF SAN JUAN, TRINIDAD.

James married on 11/08/1941 in Totnes, Devon, England to Mary Ada Tilden (1910 (Jul-Aug-Sep) – 1966). If they had children is not known.

Spitfire PL316 FF-S 132 Sqdn. took off 15.25 from airfield Deurne, Belgium, tasked with providing aerial cover during the Battle of Arnhem. Probably shot down and crashed near Rijksweg-Zuid and Wolfhoeksestraat, Reeth near Elst, Gelderland, the Netherlands.

Warrant Officer James Joseph Hyde was initially buried at the crash site in Reeth, Gelderland, the Netherlands. Was reburied on 22/01/1947 in Jonkerbos War Cemetery, his final resting place.
