"On 14th April during operations in the mountains north of MEDJEZ EL BAB an important feature was lost by our troops, and the company of which Captain B.Bennett was in command was ordered to carry out an immediate counter-attack,

Captain Bennett organised and personally led the attack and it was largely owing to his military skill, gallant bearing and example of courageous leadership that the feature was recaptured and a serious situation restored.

I consider Captain Bennett's conduct of a high order and strongly recommend him for an immediate award."
Military Cross (MC)
"At OUNO ZARGA on 21st Nov 42 and during attack at Medjez el Bab consistently showed a high standard of leadership and bravery as a Platoon Commander, with "A" Company whilst under enemy fire. He was responsible for the capture of enemy M.G. Posts during the night advance to Medje, and later during the day directed, by wireless, the fire of 3" Mortars in an effort to assist the safe withdrawal of two companies of the Battalion. His coolness whilst under fire and his skill as a Platoon Commander were an inspiration to his Platoon and his Company."
