Biography

Rear Admiral Jisaku Uozumi, former submarine commander, was the flag officer of the Japanese naval base of Penang when he signed the surrender of the 26.000 strong Japanse garrison. He fainted and was rushed to hospital; the military policemen who carried him there took his sword as a souvenir.
