Biography

Aleksei Kurgvel was a Captain and intelligence officer in the Estonian Army. He fled to Germany when the Red Army annexed his country in 1940. He began working with the "Erna" reconnaissance group in Finland (until 1944) and eventually in Estonia. Kurgvel was captured by the British Army and recruted by the CIA after the war.
