Franz Prinke reache the rank of Unteroffizier. He was navigations officer on board the Junkers Ju 88A-4 (550283, B3 + EK) van 2. Staffel, Kampfgeschwader 54, which crashed in the IJsselmeer on February 4th, 1944. In the crash all four crewmembers were killed (Prinke, Pilot Unteroffizier Helmut Weihs, Airgunner Unteroffizier Alfons Auerbach and Observer Herbert Garske).
The date of February 10th, 1944 as date of death on his gravestone is the data on which his remains were found.
