Hauptmann (Captain)
Unit:
Führer II./Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 91
Awarded on:
June 9th, 1944
The following divisional order of the day (dated 19.06.1944) describes why Weber received the Knight’s Cross…

"During a withdrawal movement along both sides of the Golowanewsk—Ljuschenwata road, on the 15.03.1944, Hauptmann Weber broke through a strong Soviet blocking force following bitter combat in forested terrain. By this action he and four additional Bataillonen of the division were able to successfully retreat to the south rather than be encircled and destroyed by hostile forces. With his outstanding personal bravery and great tactical skills, he and his valiant Bataillon have inflicted heavy losses on a superior enemy.

I congratulate Captain Weber on behalf of the whole Division concerning this high honour."
