Tischer received the Knight's Cross for his actions during the attempts of his division (with the help of the 3. and 13. Panzer-Divisionen) to crush the Soviet bridgehead across the Dniester between Grigoriopol and Butor. He always hurried towards the critical spots along the frontline and through his deeds was able to create the conditions for bold and successful counterattacks by friendly forces.

Awarded posthumously.
