"In recognition of their service in conducting the evacuation of Axis troops in the Crimea, all while under heavy pressure from the enemy, the Führer has awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross to the commanding admiral of the Black Sea, Vizeadmiral Brinkmann, the commanding admiral of the Crimean sea defense, Konteradmiral Schulz and to the commander of the Romanian naval forces, Konteradmiral Marcellario."
