Charles Arthur Smith was the son to Albert and Margareth Smith. He served as Guardsman with the Scotts Guards and was temporarily added to the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards. He was killed at Doornik during the Welsh Guards attack at Bemmel. His remains were at first buried in a field grave at Doornik.
