Biography

At 18 he joined the Landes-Polizei, Furth 1929. He then became a civil administrator for Kries Rotall and lived in Pfarkirchen Germany. In 1940 he was transferred into the Wehrmacht, Heer with the rank of Unteroffizer in the infantry, motorcycle troops. The Unteroffizer rank was for prior service in the Landes-Polizei He took part in the campaign in France where he was awarded the Infantry assault badge and was wounded. He was returned to service in 1941 for operation Barbarossa and took place in the initial operation where he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class. He was KIA on the night of March 1 when he was struck by enemy fire while on a motorcycle. He was survived by his widow, Anna and three children. Annamarie, Josefine and Helmut.
