During the fighting south of Leningrad, in the time period 12-15.09.1941, the Germans fought to break through the Soviet Ishora position. The climax of this battle came on the 15.09.1941, when Oberleutnant Lützow and his Batterie were able to capture the city of Sluzk in a coup-de-main. Lützow himself would be personally responsible for destroying a number of enemy positions and tanks. For this success Lützow would be decorated with the Knight’s Cross.
