On the 05.11.1943, Hauptmann Kloos and his 3./Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 8 faced an enemy attack in the area west of Dymer. The Kompanie was nonetheless able to bring the enemy to a halt despite their overwhelming superiority. Hauptmann Kloos then launched a bold flank attack on his own initiative from the south and was able to scatter or destroy the bulk of an enemy regiment. The enemy suffered great materiel and personnel losses in this engagement, including 120 prisoners.

For this action Hauptmann Kloos would be decorated with the Knight’s Cross.

Awarded posthumously.
