"The success of the Battalion attack on 9/10 April 1945 against the enemy's strongly defence positions along the line of River SENIO at FELISIO is, with a large degree, due to Capt KOWALCZYK, who devoted himself entirely to the task of making the most detailed and precise preparations as regards the supply for this difficult operation.

In addition, in the second phase of the operation on 10 April 1945, after the crossing of the SENIO, and still under enemy fire Capt KOWALCZYK was one of the first up with the advance companies, wishing to see them personally and to supply them with all their requirements. At the same time it may be added that Capt KOWALCZYK showed similar energy and efficiency during the battalion's defence operations from 8 Feb to 22 May 1945 in the area FALCONA - MONTAZZO along the river SENIO, during which time he neglected his own safety and went forward and watched the needs of his Battalion. By his untiring work and sacrifice he contributed, and continues to attribute, to the smooth working of the Battalion and supply system, both in action and out of it."
