"On 9 April 1945, during the crossing of the river SENIO this officer was at a forward OP, and despite heavy artillery and mortar cones he personally directed the fire of two mortar platoons, clearing a path for the infantry by accurate fire. On 20 April 1945, during the crossing of the river IDICE he was again at a forward OP where he was under fire from Nebelwerfers. The building used for this OP was destroyed. Despite this he continued directing accurate and effective fire, thereby inflicting severe casualties on the enemy and facilitating the infantry advance.
