"On 21 Apr 45, during the crossing of the IDICE river, in area CASTENASO, Capt NIENARTOWICZ personally directed the crossing of the river under enemy fire, and through minefields, thereby he contributed to the rapid crossing of this important obstacle.

On the same day, as a result of his personal direction, hiw own company quickly captured the factory area and the CATERINA railway station, wiping out enemy delaying groups and thus enabling 10 Battalion to reach an area NORTH of BOLOGNA and the neighbouring battalion to advance towards CASTEL MAGGIORE.

Throughout the operations this officer was a fine example of courage, resource, and initiative and an inspiration to his men."
