"During the battle for Bologna between 18th-21st April 1945, as Liaison Officer with a British Artillery Regiment, this officer carried out his duties in an exemplary manner, always obtaining accurate and up to date information. When the situation demanded it he never hesitated and disregarding his own safety, he , on his own initiative went forward to the Field Observation Post.

He did this in order to obtain the most up to date information, in this way he contributed to the effective action by the British Artillery in self propelled of the Polish Armoured Brigade, particularly during the fighting along the Gaiana River".
