"During the battle for Bologna Captain Zalewski was second in command of his Battalion, on 19th April in the Zamboni area he personally arranged and coordinated operations of part of his unit with tanks. At this junction he realised that an enemy pocket was hindering operations, he immediately collected a detachment and personally led them clearing an enemy post killing ten and capturing 8. He held the ground so cleared and after increasing the detachment he successfully cleared the whole area. Throughout this action he showed outstanding initiative and courage and was a magnificent inspiration to his men."
