“Unteroffizier Hans Walter Möller… received the Knight’s Cross on the 06.09.1942 while serving as a Zugführer in an Infanterie-Regiment. During August 1942 his Kompanie commander became a casualty during the fighting around Rzhev, and so he took over command of the unit. Over the next 2 weeks he and his men would successfully repulse all fierce Soviet breakthrough attempts, which were launched with overwhelming numbers of men.”
