“Oberfeldwebel Wilhelm Reinhardt… received the Knight’s Cross on the 22.02.1942 for his achievements while serving as the leader of an Infanterie-Regiment’s combat outpost. Here, acting on his own initiative, he launched a surprise strike that recaptured an important hill in the Donez region despite the presence of a much larger Soviet force.”
