Biography

Cyril (Joe) was born in Northampton but spent most of his adult life in London, passing away in a nursing home in Tooting aged 91 years.

He joined No. 12 squadron at Wickenby, part of No. 1 group bomber command, doing his 1st operation Falaise on 13/7/1944. He then moved to No. 170 squadron at Kelstern, finally moving to Warboys training as a flight engineer bomb Aimer. Altogether doing 45 operations mostly with 156 squadron.

Cyril never married and spent a great deal of his time in his retirement involved in various charities in the London borough of Wandsworth.

"Flight-sergt. Moisey has done a large number of operational sorties, including many with a Pathfinder Force."

"In February 1945 he was detailed to participate in an attack on Pfortzheim. After leaving base one engine failed and the flight had to be made on three engines. This airman gave his captain valuable assistance in flying the crippled aircraft. His untiring efforts have been responsible for the success of many missions."
